SAMTAKA
The installation SAMTAKA was made up on request for the event Women's Strike 2025.
On Friday, October 24th, 2025, women and non-binary people were encouraged to stop both paid and unpaid work for the entire day, just as women did in 1975 in Iceland.
The installation was located on Soleyjargata in Reykjavík where the march started. It was made of hundreds of meters of orange fringe, fastened in between the trees that lie between the street's lain.
The fringe was made from neon colored string and rope, both available from the hardware store and commonly used by concrete builders.
Collective group of both men and women came together as volunteers and helped create the gigantic textile work which reminded of old times where women used to sit together with traditional textile work.
